JUNIOR A REPLAY

This eagerly awaited replay between Clondrohid and Ballincollig was played in a very wet and windy Kilmurry on Sat evening. Despite the bad conditions for football both teams produced an exciting entertaining game. Ballincollig started the better team and raced into a 1-2 lead inside the opening quarter. During this time Clondrohid lost Jeremy O Sullivan (concussion) and Sean Lynch (back) and with some missed opportunities didn't register a score till the 21st min, through Aidan Kelleher. With Fergal Kelleher and Paddy Lynch gaining more control in midfield and Clondrohid now winning more breaks they added points from Declan Kelleher, Darren Dinnen, David O Leary and a great point from impressive centre back Lorcan Lynch which left them trailing at half time 1-4 to 5 points. Ballincollig scored 1st on restart but with Daniel O Mahony having more of an influence on game and Trevor O Brien having an outstanding game at full back, Clondrohid fought back with points from David O Leary, Paddy Lynch and young Darren Dineen, the gap was closed to a single point, with 10mins to go a long ball found Darren Dineen who found the net much to the delight of the big Clondrohid support. Within 2mins Ballincollig goaled and now led by a point with 8mins left to play. Clondrohid put some fierce pressure on the Ballincollig defence but with some good defending and some poor decision making from Clondrohid they couldn't close the gap. Ballincollig won out in the end by the narrowest of margins. With a score line of 2-6 to 1-8. Clondrohid must now prepare themselves for a winner takes all game against Kilmichael in a few weeks.
