ENTERTAINM­ENT Extra tickets on sale for Il Divo

ORGANISERS have released an additional 2,000 seats for the eagerly awaited Midsummer Night concert at Musgrave Park Cork where Il Divo will perform in concert with The City of Cork Symphony Orchestra for a ‘A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs of Broadway Live’ at Musgrave Park, Cork on 21 June - the same weekend as The Irish Open.

Organisers have also confirmed the addition of the stunning Irish Sopranos to the line-up as well as a set by the orchestra of music by hugely popular Andre Rieu.

Superstars Il Divo will perform at a fully seated event at Musgrave Park, on Midsummer’s Night - Saturday, 21 June at 6pm. Tickets for the 2,000 extra seats are now on sale through Ticketmast­er and Pro-Musica Cork.

Organisers also confirmed that special guests on the night will include the stunning Irish Sopranos, who will join the line up on the night, in what has become the hottest ticket in town for this summer.

The evening begins with a hugely popular set by the City of Cork Symphony Orchestra as they play the of music of Andre Rieu from 6 pm, followed by the Irish Sopranos at 7.30pm before superstars Il Divo join the orchestra on stage at 8.30 pm.

Full catering, hospitalit­y tents picnic facilities will be available on the evening on a specifical­ly fitted out Musgrave Park.

A free bus service for patrons to the venue will operate from City Hall, Cork from 5pm.

Commenting on the upcoming concert, Brian Murphy, leader of The City of Cork Symphony Orchestra said: “This high profile performanc­e clearly appeals to a wide audience and is a tremendous coup for the city and indeed the orchestra and its volunteers.

“Not since the hugely successful Bocelli concert at Collins Barracks in 2005 has an event of this magnitude been attempted and we look on track to replicate that success at Musgrave Park. It’s on the Saturday night of The Irish Open golf tournament at Fota so it’s going to be a fantastic weekend to be in Cork.”

The record-breaking classical crossover group Il Divo were originally formed by music manager Simon Cowell and have sold more than 26 million albums worldwide, so it is unsurprisi­ng that this show in Cork has been billed as a once-in-a-lifetime performanc­e. Audience members can expect to hear popular classics such as “Some Enchanted Evening” (South Pacific), “Bring Him Home,” (Les Miserables), “Tonight,” ( West Side Story) and more, drawn from Il Divo’s current album “A Musical Affair”, which showcases Il Divo’s signature romantic and emotional interpreta­tion of Broadway favourites.
