Macroom GAA under-age updates
ON a lovely day and on immaculately prepared pitches in The Castle Grounds and Tom Creedon Park, Macroom hosted Aghabullogue, Donoughmore and Kilmurry in a section of Féile 2016 last Saturday.
Féile is a national GAA football competition, is played in a blitz form, with the group winners progressing to a quarter – or semi- final, and then to a county final. The winners advance to provincial and national finals.
In the first contests, Macroom beat Donoughmore 1- 5 to 1-2, and Aghabullogue won against Kilmurry 2- 4 to 1-3.
The second round results were Kilmurry 2-2 to Macroom 2-1, Aghabullogue 6-7 to Donoughmore 1-0.
The last series saw Aghabullogue overcame Macroom 2-4 to 1-2, and Kilmurry were victors over Donoughmore, 4-3 to 2- 4. Aghabullogue won the group with 3 wins out of 3.
Macroom played well but were hampered by the absence of players due to family obligations and injuries. They were also unlucky to have players hurt in the matches, and we wish those injured a swift return to fitness and football.
Players, mentors and supporters enjoyed refreshments in the Clubhouse afterwards.
