8th minute that helped hold a 1-2 to 0-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Killavullen who missed at least three goal scoring chances during the first half quickly got to grips with Sean O’Regan and Colm O’Connell commanding figures at midfield. David Brosnan, Charlie Lillis and Garry Lane had points before the half time whistle but they were cancelled out when Mark Flynn and Ronan O’Hagan had points for Fermoy who held a 1-4 to 0-4 lead at the shortwhistle.

On the restart despite Fermoy being first to score by Daniel O’Flynn following good work by Dara McCarthy it was Killavullen that enjoyed the lions share of possession in this half with Pa Sheehan, John O’Regan, Patrick Egan, Billy Norris, Colm O’Connell, Sean O’Regan and Charlie Lillis featuring strongly. Entering the last quarter a goal by David Brosnan got them back on parity at 1-6 apiece.

Further pressure saw Killavullen edge in front for the first time when Colm O’Connell set up Patrick Egan for a long range point. They followed with a pointed free by Charlie Lillis that opened up a 1-8 to 1-6 lead. However Fermoy rallied well to the end with James Campion, Trevor Grumbridge, David Conran, Shane Aherne, Daniel O’Flynn, Ronan O’Hagan, Paudie Shanahan and Mark Flynn impressing in the closing stages.

Two pointed frees by Ronan O’Hagan tied matters at 1-8 each. Killavullen hit the front again courtesy of a Charlie Lillis free but it was Fermoy that had the final say with O’Hagan forcing level with a free before Shane Aherne kicked over the winning score.
