The Lotto was held on Monday, April 18, at the Idle Hour. There was no winner of the jackpot of €1,250. NEW CHURCH BELL

A bell Fund has been set up to defray the costs of casting and erecting the new bell. Anybody wishing to contribute or to sponsor a particular part of the bell may do so by contacting the Parish Priest at 063 81470. A subscriber­s list will be published in a special commemorat­ive booklet at works end.

There is no minimum or maximum subscripti­on. Letters for the inscriptio­n on the new bell may be purchased from the Sacristy any morning or from the door collectors. The Subscripti­on List will remain open until June.

PARISH MISSION

The opening of the Parish Mission gets under way on Saturday, April 30, by Fr John Harris OP with May Eve blessing of the Parish at the Door of Mercy followed by Mass for Spiritual Renewal of the Parish at 7.30 p.m.

BLESSING OF HOMES

The Easter Blessing of homes will be done by the Missionari­es from May 1 to May 8. If you wish to have your home blessed please add your name to the list which is now available in the Sacristy or by asking the visitors to do so for you.

HOLY WELL

As part of the Mission the May devotions at the Holy Well will take place on Thursday, May 5, which is also Ascension Thursday. Mass will be celebrated at the Holy Well and will be followed by the usual May Procession (weather permitting). A social evening will follow in the GAA Clubrooms to which all are cordially invited.

FIGHT FOR FIONN

Fight for Fionn is a charity set up to raise funds for Fionn Barry, a 2 year old boy from Ballyhea who has a seriously debilitati­ng and life limiting illness and needs 24 hour care. SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSH­IP: Our Senior Hurling Championsh­ip First Round against Blackrock has been fixed for May 29 in Mallow at 3.45 p.m.

CÚL CAMPS 2016: Ballyhea Juvenile GAA Club will be hosting the Cúl Camps again this year from Monday, July 11, to Friday, July 15. Full details to follow.

COACHING PLAN: The club launched its coaching plan for under-six up to under-12 last weekend at the club rooms. Tom Crowley Juvenile Club Chairman thanked everyone for coming and also thanked Coaching Officer John Mortell and GDA Pat Spratt for compiling the booklet. Pat Spratt then presented the booklets to the Mentors from the various age groups.

DEFIBRILLA­TOR TRAINING

A Defibrilla­tor training course is being arranged for April. It will take four hours and a certificat­e will be provided by the Irish Heart Foundation. The cost including this certificat­e is €30. Contact John McCarthy (087 9657833) if interested.

No disputing the winners were the better team overall, still full of running at the final whistle in no hurry to hear it sound - they were in control and enjoying their football.

This was a well deserved victory by a group of young men whose heart and soul is in their club, a group that believed in their management team and together - they got it ‘’spot on’’.

On returning to Boherbue a jubiliant crowd awaited their heroes.

Club chairman Dan O’Rahilly presided and other speakers included team manager John Murphy, coach Conor O’Riordan who introduced each player and joint team captains Daniel Buckley and Daniel Murphy.

Andrew O’Connor supplied the platform and immediatel­y afterwards the celebratio­ns began and continued into the early hours. Congratula­tions and best of luck in the County.

Footnote: It was disappoint­ing for the big attendance that the Duhallow Board failed to produce a team sheet, a simple thing but very effective.

HANDBALL

Congrats to Jonathon Lucey and Kieran O’Connor recent winners of the County Junior B 40x20 doubles title defeating Conna at Mallow.

HOLIDAY

The Active Retirement group holiday takes place from May 1720. Based in Carlow, it includes visiting locations of interest in Wicklow and Wexford plus the National Stud. There is still a few places left but this Thursday is the final day for registerin­g.They meet in the Pearse Memorial Hall at 2pm. BWEENG MARCH: Many of the younger members of the club were proud to represent the club in the Bweeng 1916 Commemorat­ion March this week. The group, kitted out on our brand new Direct Tyres jerseys, carried the club banner and walked to Bweeng from the Lombardsto­wn Road with some adults of the club. Well done to all who helped to organise this fantastic community event.

MATCH RESULTS: The under-21s lost to Glanmire (away) in the County Semi Final. It was a great effort from this newly formed team.

Mixed fortunes this week for the under-14s as they won a league game against Knocknagre­e and lost a league game against Banteer.

BWEENG TRAIL BLAZERS

The weekly training continues on Monday and Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. and individual­s arrange weekend runs between themselves. 5K AND 10K RUN / WALK

May 8 is a date for your diaries with the Bweeng 5k and 10k run / walk taking place. There are a number of options available on the day with a 5k walk, 5k run, 10k walk and a 10k run. Entry fee for the 5k and 10k run is €10 and the walk is €5. The Ballincoll­ig & District Vintage & Classic Car Club have arranged a run over Gougane Barra and Memorial Service takes place on May 22.
