MACROOM PARK RUN

Aoife Lucey, fifth class pupil of Clondrohid National School, stood up at the start line of the very first parkrun on May 13, 2013, and ran in a time of 29.09, a fantastic time for a girl of her young age. She was hooked and continued to come along to parkrun on many more occasions bringing her time down to 26.08 over the next few months. Each week she was joined by her parents and brothers.

Unfortunately last year Aoife was diagnosed with leukaemia and is currently very bravely tackling her illness with great strength and a fantastic attitude. This is where all you park runners come in.

It is hoped to hold a fundraiser for Aoife on Saturday, April 30. parkrun will run as normal but perhaps you might donate as you see fit for the run and after the parkrun there will be a coffee morning until 11.30 a.m. in the hall along with bouncing castles for the children.

The organisers would love to see as many families out as possible take part along with the regular runners. So anyone who would like to help out, be it marshalling, baking for the coffee morning, making tea or coffee, face painting, or anyway that you can help it would be great. Just call 026 43508 for any information. It would be nice to come together to help support Aoife and her family at this difficult time of their lives.Your support much appreciated
