- BILL BROWNE

A TEMPTING selection of tasty treats that are guaranteed to tantalise the taste buds await visitors to the Christmas Food and Family Fair in the grounds of Mallow Castle next Saturday afternoon.

A raft of artisan food producers from across the North Cork are will be showcasing their mouth-watering delights at the event as part of the ‘ Taste Cork’ initiative.

Joan Kelleher, business adviser with Cork County Council’s Local Enterprise Office (LEO), said it was great to see so many food and craft producers from across the region taking part in this year’s Fair.

“The LEO office has supported a significant number of small producers and craft people through the creation and expansion of their businesses. It is wonderful to see they have progressed to the stage where they can take part in the Christmas markets and many other events,” said Ms Kelleher.

“Saturday’s Taste Cork showcase follows on from the successful ‘ Taste of North Cork’ event that we hosted during the Mallow Homes and Gardens Festival at the Cork Racecourse during the summer. The Christmas Fair is gearing up to be another great success and I want to wish all of those involved the very best of luck,” she added.

The chair of the Mallow Christmas Fair organising committee, Barry John Ryan, said they were delighted to have Taste Cork and the LEO on board this year.

“We are truly blessed to have such talented artisan and craft producers here in Cork and visitors to Mallow Castle on Saturday will not be disappointed with what will be on offer,” said Mr Ryan.

“I would encourage everyone to come along on the day, savour what our local producers have on offer and enjoy the busy line up of festive entertainment we have on offer for the family throughout the day,”

Entry to the Christmas Fair, which will be held in the courtyard of the Castle from noon to 5pm, will be free and in addition to the many craft and food stalls the event will feature a hosts of other attractions including kiddies rides and an appearance by Santa himself.
