Can we be happier at work? ...of course we can!
FIFTY women attended a special event at the Castle Hotel Macroom last Thursday morning, a collaborative attempt by Macroom E Enterprise Centre and AIB Macroom to bring the business-women of Macroom together to learn how to up their happiness levels and achieve a better work and life balance.
Titled ‘Can we be Happier at Work?’, guest speakers were Cork GAA All Star and local business owner Rena Buckley and positive psychology, wellbeing and mindfulness coach Tania Daunt. Rena spoke about how she juggles running her business, training and studying for a Masters with the many other aspects of her life. She covered everything from sleep to diet and exercise to help inspire you to be the best you can be. Rena has won 10 Senior All Ireland Football medals and six Senior All Ireland Camogie medals. In 2015 she was awarded with an alumni award by the UCD School of Physiotherapy. She was a nominee for the RTÉ Sports Person of the Year and was the joint winner, along with teammate Briege Corkery, of the Irish Times Sportswoman of the Year.
Tania started her talk with a mindfulness exercise then gave some very practical tips and tools to increase and maintain happiness levels. Tania runs her own mindfulness, wellbeing and positive psychology business Sonas Coaching and is a facilitator for the Action for Happiness Group, Cork. Action for Happiness is a global movement of people from all walks of life taking action to create a happier society
