Caroline’s message

-

In a message which was read out by Flex Marketing Manager Laura Curtin at the Duhallow Business Awards, Caroline Dowling offered her sincere apologies at not being able to attend the awards ceremony, which she noted was an important event acknowledging local entrepreneurs.

“Regrettably, I am unable to attend due to a family bereavement. However, I would like to thank you for the kind invitation and more importantly congratulate the organisers and the finalists on their great achievement, and wish you the very best of luck. It is wonderful to read about your success clearly earned through hard work and creativity.

“The importance of all your businesses to rural Ireland and Duhallow is critical today and to our future. It will become even more so as the world and society itself continue to evolve with big shifts in retail, communications and technology. It is important we all commit to support our local Irish business to ensure we preserve our positive culture and way of life.

“I wish you well, my sincere apologies and regrets as I ask for your understanding. If I ever may help or assist any of you, please do not hesitate to contact me.”

“These companies became the largest companies in the world. Who knows , perhaps some of the finalists this evening will become the next Apple, I certainly hope so.”

Having his homework well done for the night’s awards, he finalised his speech with a quote from Newmarket native, John Philpot Curran, who was born in the town in 1750 and was a famous orator, politician, wit, lawyer and judge. He once said: “In times of change, learners shall inherit the earth, while the learned are beautifully equipped for a world that no longer exists.” Mr Scanlan said the world is definitely changing and he was looking forward to learning more from the award recipients on the night.
