West Cork Storyahuge success
TRANSITION Year girls at St. Mary’s Macroom performed the annual school musical to a full house in Clondrohid Hall over two nights last week.
The play was written by the very talented Catherine Long, who worked tirelessly with the cast to ensure that the show would be simply spectacular. Many hours were spent perfecting dance routines choreographed by some extremely talented girls in fourth year.
Ms Donovan helped with the singing aspects of the show and deserves a massive thank you for the wonderful songs she organised.
The cast and crew also spent a day during midterm practising and worked very hard in the weeks leading up to the performance. Even though the work was very tiring and somewhat mundane at times, they continued to work hard, determined that the play would be a memorable one for all.
On the first day of the show, there was a performance during the daytime for the surrounding primary schools. The children enjoyed the performance and the cast was delighted to get the opportunity to perform in front of a crowd before the ‘ big night’.
On Thursday evening, there were nervous faces backstage but some very reassuring pep talks quickly allowed everyone to relax and settle into the show.
And so they performed very well on both nights and the audiences appeared to enjoy every minute of it, singing along to the songs and joining in with all the fun. The experience proved very beneficial for all involved, as everyone showcased their own talents, from acting and singing to designing the costumes and doing makeup.
The show will definitely be remembered for years to come and will most certainly be considered a highlight of Transition Year .
