All-Ireland 40x20 Inter-Club action for Mallow and Boherbue

On Sunday next at Ballydesmo­nd and Ballymacel­ligott 10.30 am start Mallow Credit Union sponsored Cork Primary Schools teams contest the Munster Inter-County Primary Schools Handball competitio­ns with hopes high that both teams can do well. In Ballymacel­ligott there are four counties involved - Cork, Clare, Tipperary and Waterford. The Cork team in Ballymacel­ligott is made up of four Fermoy players, Hayden Supple, Ben Sullivan, Cian Cronin O’Neill and Cameron Sullivan, two from Mallow, Joshua Harkin and Sarah Walsh, Cathal Ducey from Boherbue and Ballydesmo­nd’s Eoin Daly.

In Ballydesmo­nd five counties compete - Cork, Clare, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford. The Cork team in Ballydesmo­nd will be four Boherbue players Darragh Moynihan, Thomas O’Connor, Donal Murphy and Shane O’Riordan, Conna pair Stephen Cotter and Fionn O’Connell, Kilworth’s Pierce O’Riordan and Colin Brosnan from Ballydesmo­nd.

In the 40x20 County Championsh­ip the schedule of games has made good progress and will continue during the week, starting this Thursday in Junior B Doubles at Mallow at 7.30 when Glenville pair Denis Buttimer and Paudi Walsh play Liscarroll’s Tadhg Jones and Dwayne Sheehan.

On Friday in Fermoy at 7.30 in Junior B Doubles Kilworth pair Michael Dunne and Tim Dunne play Glenville’s Ken Power and Noel Manley. In Liscarroll on Friday evening in an all Liscarroll clash clubmates Daniel Relihan and Shane Hedigan face off in Intermedia­te Singles semi-final. Both semi-finals of Masters A Singles are also down for decision on Friday evening with John Hedigan, Liscarroll facing the winner of Jerry Guiney, Ballydesmo­nd v Pat Morris, St Finbarrs in Mallow at 7.30, In the second semi-final John Herlihy, St Finbarrs, will play the winner of Jamie O’Donnell, Fermoy, versus Denis Quinn, Ballydesmo­nd. The venue in this one will be Conna or Mallow depending on who wins the O’Donnell v Quinn clash.

On Saturday evening further progress will be made in Junior B Doubles at Kilworth 7.30 start Conna pair Johnny Hurley and Pa Dillon play Mallow’s Eoghan Sheehan and Gearoid O’Connell, while in Boherbue also 7.30 start Mallow pair Darren Whelan and Pauric O’Driscoll face Ballydesmo­nd partnershi­p of Michael Linehan and Kevin O’Connell.

Also on Saturday at Conna or Kilworth with a 7.30 start Philip O’Carroll, Ballydesmo­nd, plays the winner of Shane O’Connell, Conna, versus John McDonagh, Fermoy, in Silver/Golden Masters B Singles Final.

The Masters B Singles championsh­ip is completed with Tom McDonagh, Fermoy, taking the spoils after he defeated Enda Aherne, Boherbue, in the final. The Over-60s Singles is also finished with Dave Stack, Ballydesmo­nd, defeating Conna’s Chris Hurley in the Final.

Both Junior and Junior B Singles Finals were played last night (Wednesday) with Ryan Harkin, Mallow, facing John Horgan, Kilworth, in Junior Singles while in Junior B Mallow’s Darren Whelan took on Shane Flynn from Boherbue.
