Mitchelsto­wn CBS through to Munster Senior B FC semi-final

Cathal O’Mahony. CBS moved 1-2 to 0-2 clear when Sean Walsh and Mark Keane worked well for Dylan Kent who punched over. In the 13th minute Abbey were back on terms when impressive Adam McGrath and Shane Ryan worked well for Edmund O’Dwyer who goaled from close range. Two minutes later Abbey CBS took the lead with a fine point by Shane Neville. Mark Keane placed Sean Walsh for a very good point that levelled at 1-3 each. They were also deadlocked at 1-4 and 1-5 each. Mitchelsto­wn gained control at midfield where Dylan Kent and Sean Walsh impressed. Good play by Cathal O’Mahony and Mark Keane led to a great goal by Brian White. Dylan Kent won a great ball and placed his midfield partner Sean Walsh who kicked over from long range. In the dying moments Abbey CBS struck for a great goal by Shane Neville after good play by Adam McGrath that cut the lead at the break 2-6 to 2-5.

Abbey CBS did well on the resumption. Andrew Valance pointed and they hit the front when David Byron who had moved up field from full back kicked a great point. Mitchelsto­wn regrouped well. They moved Cathal O’Mahony to wing forward. Dylan Kent put Sean Walsh in for a point that levelled for the 6th and last time at 2-7 each. In the 36th minute Cathal O’Mahony put Padraigh O’Gorman through for a goal with Sean Walsh following with a splendid point in the 40th minute 3-8 to 2-7. Andrew

Valance kept Abbey CBS in touch with a free. Sean Walsh added another point for Mitchelsto­wn. Abbey CBS came close to a goal when Adam McGrath put Edmund O’Dwyer through only to be denied by a very good save by Tony Watson. In the 48th minute Padraigh McGrath and Padraigh O’Gorman worked a good movement that led to a vital goal by Sean Walsh that put his side 4-9 to 2-8 clear.

Abbey CBS had two wides with Mark Keane placing Sean Walsh for his 6th point. Abbey CBS never gave up they forced a few frees but were off target. Mitchelsto­wn defence held firm as Abbey went in search of a goal or two. With seven minutes to go Shane Neville pointed a free with Shane Ryan following with an Abbey point 4-10 to 2-10.

Mitchelsto­wn completed the scoring with a Cathal O’Mahony point that helped his side to progress to a semi-final against St. Michael’s Rosscarber­y or Colaiste Spiorad Naomh in January.
