-

LAST weekend saw O’Leary Stone Kanturk Cycling Club host their annual three day event.

The weather didn’t start too favorably on Saturday; however, Sunday and Monday saw ideal conditions for cycling. And O’Leary Stone Club brought home plenty of success.

First off on Saturday were the u16s for 60 k or two laps, followed by the u14s with one lap and the u12s for one lap of the shorter circuit.

Starting with the U12s, as they came back into the town following the hill climb and descent, two riders wearing the O’Leary Stone Kanturk colours had broken away with an impressive lead, Quillen Donnelly and Ewen McConville. Both looked very strong as they opened up for the finish line, with Quillen taking the win over Ewen with Sean Tarrant taking 5th. Stephen Sheehan and Michael Nolan finished in the bunch.

The U14s came back as a bunch with David Shine taking a very strong 5th. Luke Moynihan finished well in the bunch.

The u16s were taking part in an Olympic Youth Trial in both the road race and the time trial. In the bunch Daniel Yonhin, Will Ryan and Luke Thompson finished in same time as the leaders. Denis Murphy, Tadgh Walsh and Arnaud Dimoulin finished in the next bunch.

In the time trial Quillan Donnelly took another great win with Ewen McConville taking second and the fast improving Sean Tarrant got his podium place secured with a fine 3rd in blustery conditions so O’Leary Stone Kanturk got a clean sweep.
