Thomas Vaughan followed with a CBS point. Coachford were wide from a free. James Keating added another free. In the 23rd minute good play by Shane Doyle led to a great goal by James Keating that opened up a five point lead 2-5 to 0- 6.

Shane Tarrant was narrowly wide from a long range free. The Coachford side were back in the hunt soon after when Aodan Healy had a goal after good play by David Thompson.

Good work by Paul Ring led to a fine point by Shane Tarrant. CBS replied soon after when Dylan Kent pointed from long range. In the closing moments James Keating (free) and David Kirwan swapped a point that saw CBS lead at the break 2-7 to 1- 8.

On the resumption CBS introduced Mark Keane who did very well around midfield. Keane struck an early point. Dean O’Sullivan pointed under pressure for Coachford. CBS forced a penalty in the 35th minute James Keating’s effort skimmed the post wide.

CBS recovered well. Good play by Kieran Fox and Padraigh McGrath led to a well taken George Pendle point. Coachford kept in touch but they relied mainly on Shane Tarrant for scores. Tarrant pointed a free 2-9 to 1-10.

CBS brought on Lorcan Finn in defence. Shane Tarrant was fouled and the same player pointed the free. Just when it looked as Coachford were going to get on terms, it was the Mitchelsto­wn side who responded.

A foul on George Pendle led to another pointed free by James Keating. In the 43rd minute Shane Tarrant struck a great point from play. Mark Keane replied for CBS. In the 47th minute good play by George Pendle, and Cathal Harrington led to a great point by George Pendle restoring the goal lead 2-12 to 1- 12.

Coachford hit another free by Shane Tarrant. The turning point came in the 49th minute when a long delivery by Shane Doyle found James Keating who plucked out of the air and struck a massive goal that opened up a 3-12 to 1- 13 lead.

Shane Tarrant was narrowly wide but followed with a fine point. Good play by Cathal Harrington and Josh Macken led to another point by James Keating. Coachford moved their keeper Tadhg Bradley up front with Jack Cremin coming on.

There was an exchange of points with CBS holding a 3-15 to 1- 16 lead entering the last 5 minutes. Shane Tarrant pointed from a free and play as the lead was down to 3-15 to 1-18. James Keating added another point.

In the dying moments Ian Butler made another fine save. Deep in injury time Coachford forced an indirect free on the 21 yard line. The ball hit the net untouched and so the goal did not stand.

The final whistle followed and CBS were crowned Co champions. After the game Neilly O’Keeffe Cork Post Primary Schools Board Administra­tor presented the cup to the winning captain Ian Butler.
