BWEENG 5K AND 10K RACE

Bweeng Trailblaze­rs annual 5k and 10k race takes place on Sunday next, May 7, at midday. Skechers are the main race sponsors this year and the club is also delighted to have Imagine Broadband back again for their second year of sponsoring this event. It is expected that there will be a very big attendance this year with online entries already surpassing last year’s total entry.

This will be a great day in Bweeng and help is needed to make sure that this runs smoothly. Help is needed with stewarding, baking and help in the kitchen on the day. Please note there will be major disruption­s in and around the village of Bweeng from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. on the day.

CHORAL CONCERT

Duhallow Choral Society will be giving a choral concert in St John’s Church, Glantane, on Sunday, May 7, at 7.30 p.m. Tickets €10, available from Owen at 086 1651621. All proceeds will go towards the refurbishm­ent of the church. See photo attached.

BWEENG CELTIC UNDERAGE

A busy week for all at Bweeng Celtic as the under-11s took on Strand in a challenge away, the under-nines took on Strand in the league (home) and the under-11s took on Corkbeg in the Cup. Well done to the players who are showing great improvemen­t. Before their cup game, the under-11s were officially presented with a set of match jerseys on home colours from Brendan Creed of Direct Tyres. Brendan is based in Newberry (Mallow) and supplies, fits and repairs tyres at home, work or at the side of the road. Tel: 085 8835709.

SOCCER LEGENDS TALK

Duhallow Reds have organised for Liverpool and Ireland superstars Ray Houghton and Ronnie Whelan to Speak in the Edel Quinn Hall in Kanturk on Friday, May 12, at 8 p.m. The Champions league trophy will be in attendance on the night. LADIES’ FOOTBALL CLUB

Congratula­tions to our junior team who beat Castlemagn­er in the Junior League this week. Well done also to our under-14s who beat Mitchelsto­wn in the league this week. Hard luck to our under-16s who were defeated by Mallow and to our under-12s who were also defeated by Mallow. Keep watch on Facebook and Twitter for fixtures this week.

Well done to the Cork Minors, who became Munster Champions this weekend in Dr Crokes in Killarney. Congratula­tions to the North Cork girls, and most especially our own Aisling Healy, who played fantastic on the day.
