Brilliant night as Aubane folk go black and white for fundraiser
AUBANE Social Club are no strangers to coming up with novel fundraisers and their latest venture saw associates support a Black and White Social in the local Community Centre.
There were no fancy frills, just patrons who were suitably attired and it created a lively atmosphere, much to the satisfaction of Club Chairman John F Kelleher.
“Another brilliant night, the idea came up on considering a novel fund for the Community Centre. After a successful country and western themed Tea Party last year, a brain storming session came up with the concept of a black and night party, the response again fantastic”, said John.
Down through the years, the Aubane Social Club has helped shape its community and people in diverse fields of social, cultural and recreational activity. The Social Club’s home is the former National School, converted to a Community Centre in 1974, the hub of local activity that initiated senior citizen parties, night classes, farm discussion group, 45 cards drives to charity events.
Recent weeks have seen a Table Quiz and the Black and White get-together that will raise funds for a refurbishment programme indoors and outdoors.
“There is some structural work to complete, varnishing the floor, external landscaping and upgrading is evident at the floodlit Cross thanks to the support of Noreen Kelleher. Our friends and associates of Aubane have been very supportive of our fund raisers and we appreciate the backing”, said John.
Meanwhile, patrons enjoyed convening for a lively atmosphere at the latest staging and with “Back on Track” providing the music and song, the dancing continued late into the night.
