Close contest for Laochra Óg U-12s but late goal seals win over Skibbereen

-

LAST Thursday the Laochra Óg U12 hurlers went to O’Donovan Rossa GAA Club in Skibbereen and played St Patrick’s Hurling Club.

The first half was a very close contest with just a point separating the sides at halftime. Against the breeze in the second-half, Laochra Óg played brilliantly going into an eight point lead.

But as the game went on, St Patrick’s fought back to within a point before Laochra Óg got a goal at the end to finish on a scoreline of Laochra Óg 5- 05 to St Patrick’s 4- 04.

Well done to all the players from both clubs. Thanks to team Sponsors Astra Systems, CART bus for transport, Driver Peter Sweeney and St Patricks hurling club for being very welcoming hosts.

Then on Friday, Laochra Óg U14 Camogie team travelled to Millstreet and played a very strong Millstreet team with Cork players on their side.

Laochra Óg girls rarely got out of their own half but showed great heart throughout and never gave up.

Two great goals, one each rom Eimear Ní Luasa and Eilísh O’Connell at the stroke of half time was as good as it though for Laochra Óg.

This concludes the U14 league with two wins and two losses at the Macroom club’s very first attempt. Final score to Millstreet 9- 06 to Laochra Óg 2- 0. Thanks to team Sponsors Macroom Tidy Towns.

On Sunday, Laochra óg Camogie U12/11s played Inniscarra with girls from the U10s making up the numbers. The girls had four 15 minutes-a-side games against a very competitive Inniscarra team. The game was played with great skills by both teams.

Meanwhile, the club’s latest 50/50 Club Development Draw took place in Clondrohid Community Hall. The winner was Gary O’Brien, Coolnadane who won €380 and the sellers prize of €25 went to Suzann O’Brien. The next draw takes place on May 21.
