Macroom GAA Juveniles in late rally but Crosshaven simply too strong

-

U-14S, B1 League: Macroom played a very good Crosshaven team away recently and were beaten 6-10 to 2-4.

Macroom held their own for the first 10 minutes and, but for some handling errors, could have led.

But Crosshaven capitalised on their chances and quickly piled on the scores to lead 4-6 to 0-2 at half-time, Dylan Molyneux and Dean Granville scoring a point each for Macroom.

Macroom showed a more competitive spirit in the second half and notched up 2-2 with their rivals scoring 2-4 during that same period.

Seán De Lacey fielded at the edge, swivelled and found the net with an unstoppable shot. For the second goal, Kieran Doody crossed from the right and Conor Seery contested the ball, distracted the goalie and the ball found the net.

Jack Sexton converted a free and Darren Sweeney completed the Macroom tally with a well taken point.

Macroom have two more league matches, against Canovee and Passage. The team has much ability, and with a full commitment, it should do well in the remaining fixtures.

The record to date is P9 W4 D0 L5.

Because of First Communions for the younger lads, the U-8s, U-9 and U-10s did not have games last week and the U-16s and Minors will resume after the completion of the Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations.

Fixtures:

The U-8s and U-11s are scheduled to play on Saturday, May 13. The U-9s will play Na Piarsaigh on Thursday in the CG at 7pm and the U-10s play Aghabullogue on Friday night at 7pm, also in the CG.

Meanwhile, training continues for all teams at their usual times.

The Juvenile Club would like to congratulate all those who made their First Communions and give best wishes to those facing the upcoming State examinations.
