UNDER-12 TEAM

Our under-12 Football team who recently travelled to Croke Park to take part in a football blitz playing against Duagh of Kerry, Wolftones of Limerick and Rockwell Rovers of Tipperary.

This trip came about because our Juvenile club was credited with a Silver Award for benchmarking by Cork County board recently.

A 52-seater bus full to capacity with players, coaches and parents travelled on the day. An early start didn’t dampen the enthusiasm as we headed off for Dublin.

All of our 30 players got to play in Croke Park on the day proudly wearing their black and amber jersey – a dream come through for all.

After our matches, all players were given a tour of the Croke Park stadium and GAA Museum. During the tour we were delighted to meet the famous Marty Morrissey, who gladly gave his time to chat and take photos with players and mentors.

A special thanks to all parents who helped to fundraise so each player received a top on the day as a momento and also to those who travelled on the day. Thank you to Lisa and Paudie for sponsoring refreshments for the trip and to Fr Baker, who travelled to support the team on the day – it’s all very much appreciated.

Finally, a BIG thank you to our fantastic group of young stars who performed impeccably both on and off the pitch and were a credit to themselves, their parents and to their club.

Thank you for representing our club at such a special event.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL.

Buttevant Community Council, although not always visible on the ground to the public eye, is continually active, lobbying and cajoling public representatives and public bodies and organisations for the betterment of the local community. The community council has been instrumental in procuring many worthwhile amenities and services which would not have been secured without pressurising the relevant authorities. The Streetscape project has been such a project of the community council, and still the project is being criticised continuously by the ‘hurlers on the ditch’. The community council is currently promoting a project of procuring funding for the establishment of a public amenity park and walkway adjacent to the bank of the river Awbeg.

The community council members are ordinary people who give of their time to promote a better place of living and lifestyle for the local community.

The community council members, though few In number, also promote the motto of ‘pride of place and pride in your community’. So give your support where possible to foster this idea and ideals.
