TELL ME ON A SUNDAY AT THE EVERYMAN PALACE
THE iconic Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black West End and Broadway hit musical ‘ Tell Me On A Sunday’ will play for two eagerly anticipated performances at the Everyman Palace Theatre tonight (Friday) and tomorrow night.
The musical charts the romantic adventures of an English girl living in New York during the heady days of the 1980’s. Starring Cork’s own West End star Irene Warren in the lead role and featuring a live five-piece band, the show is a bitter-sweet tale of love and romance set amid a backdrop of the city that never sleeps.
The music features a magical score including the chart topping ‘ Take That Look Off Your Face’ and ‘ Tell Me On A Sunday’.

CORMAC O CAOIMH SET TO LAUNCH NEW ALBUM
POPULAR Cork singer/songwriter Cormac O Caoimh will be back on hone turf on Saturday night accompanied by Martin Leahy for a gig amid the intimate surroundings of the Triskel Christchurch Arts Centre.
The gig will celebrate the recent release of O Caoimh’s fourth album ‘Shiny Silver Thing’s’, the follow up to his 2014 LP ‘ The Moon Loses Its Memory’, which received widespread acclaim from music industry insiders.
The gig will showcase tracks from the new album, which takes up where the previous one left off capturing O Caoimh’s intimate vocals and exquisite guitar playing, as well as songs from his impressive back catalogue.

SUP UP AT THE LAUNCH OF NEW CORK ALE TRAIL
BEER enthusiasts will be in seventh heaven tonight (Thursday) with launch of the ‘Cork Ale Trail’ set to take place from 7pm at the Franciscan Well Brewpub on the North Mall.
The trail, will take aficionados on a tour of all the best purveyors of craft beers, ales, stouts and lagers and local speciality brews, taking in venues including the Franciscan Well, The Friary, The Bierhaus, Bradley’s specialist off-licence at the Abbots Ale House.
Each month venues along the trail will host beer tastings, tap takeovers and beer talks and members will be issued with loyalty cards allowing them to collect stamps at each one for the first edition of the exclusive cork Ale Trail T-shirt.

JODAVINO’S AOIBHEANN TO LAUNCH SOLO EP
CORK singer/songwriter Aoibheann, former vocalist with the band Jodavino, will launch her debut EP as a solo artist when she plays the White Horse in Ballincollig on Friday week.
Joining her on stage on the night will be Joe Philpott of Rubyhorse fame (who also played with Jodavino) and talented music producer Cormac O’Connor.
Departing from the rock sounds of their respective earlier musical incarnations, the trio will be showcasing an electronic pop sound, rooted in stylish song-writing and soaring vocals

JAKE CLEMONS AND BAND LIVE AT CYPRUS AVENUE
SINGER, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jake Clemons will make a welcome return to Cork with his band on Saturday night for an intimate gig at Cyprus Avenue.
Clemons, who took over the role as the lead saxophonist with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band following the death of his uncle Clarence Clemons in 2011, will play the venue as part of his four-date ‘Fear and Love’ Irish tour.
The tour, named after his latest album released earlier this year, will see Clemons perform a mixed set of new numbers from the album as well as tracks from his previous releases.

PURPLE RAIN TRIBUTE TO PRINCE AT OPERA HOUSE
THE life and music of the late, great Prince will be celebrated on the stage of the Cork Opera House next Thursday night when the ‘Purple Rain’ tribute show hits the venue.
Supported by a full eight-piece live band, singer Jimi Love will front the non-stop, hit packed performance during a two-hour show that has been described by original Prince and the Revolution drummer Bobby Z as being “authentic and on the money.”
The audience can expect to hear a selection of tracks by arguably one of the most iconic performers to ever grace the music industry including 1999, Little Red Corvette, Diamonds and Pearls and of course Purple Rain.

KNOTTED CORD QUARTET GETTING SIRIUS IN COBH
THE recently reformed Knotted Cord Quartet will play a gig at the Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh on Friday night.
The quartet of Peter Browne (uilleann pipes), Gerry Harrington (fiddle), Charlie Piggott (accordion) and Seosaimhin Ni Bheaglaoich (singer) were well known for their traditional music performances during the 1990s, playing prestigious venues across the country.
With each members bringing their solo skills back into the collective, the quartet play a rich and diverse live programme, incorporating singing from the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht of West Kerry and dance music and airs from Cork’s Sliabh Luachra, Dublin, and the western counties.

ONE FOR THE ROAD WITH BAGATELLE IN KILLARNEY
VETERAN Irish favourites Bagatelle will bring their ‘One for the Road’ tour to the stage of the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney on Saturday night.
Having competed what was billed as their final tour in 2016, the band bowed to public demand and decided to go back on the road for one final swansong for a series of occasional gigs.
Bagatelle have earned themselves a worthy spot in the pantheon of Irish musical greats, with six number one singles and multi-platinum album sales.
Fans can expect a veritable greatest hits with perennial favourites including ‘Summer in Dublin’, ‘Second Violin’ and ‘Leeson Street Lady’.

THE BURMA LINED UP FOR HEADLINE GIG AT THE BRÚ
CRITICALLY acclaimed upcoming Cork fivepiece The Burma will play a free gig on Friday week at the Brú Bar on McCurtain St.
Since the beginning of 2016 the band have been recording and producing their own material, launching their debut single ‘In the Summertime’ last August.
Influence by among others The Smiths, The Killers and The Strokes, their jangly guitars and bouncy bass-lines make for a refreshingly melodic sound.
Having cut their teeth at festival’s around the country, including Mitchelstown’s Indiependence and Glasgowbury in Derry, The Burma was also chosen to play Whelan’s ‘One To Watch’ showcase.

ORPHEUS CHOIR AND GUESTS IN CONCERT
THE Orpheus Choir, under the direction of Hilary Reynolds, will bring their successful ‘On Wings of Sing’ concert programme to the atmospheric surroundings of Fermoy’s Christ Church on Friday night.
The concert proved to be a massive hit at its last outing in Watergrasshill’s First Fruits Arts Centre, earning a standing ovation from the audience.
The Orpheus will be joined on the night by special guests Cork male voice quartet Vocavalry and Russian pianist Galina Badmeava who will be accompanying the choir.
Admission to the concert, which will commence at 8.15pm, will be €15 (€7.50 for children under 18) at the door.
