MONDAY August 28th: Laochra Óg U12 Camogie team played against Kilworth in the County League Quarter Final last night winning well.

This team is well represented by girls from all four parishes with Macroom’s Lily Murphy Captaining the side.

Laochra Óg was too strong for Kilworth on this occasion and now go on to a County Semi Final, A first for the club.

Thanks to team Sponsors Macroom Tidy Towns, the Ionad Cultúrtha for dressing rooms and Colaiste Ghobnatan for use of their pitch. Also, a thank you to Kilworth Camogie team for travelling to us and battling away to the very end, never giving up.

Laochra Óg Hurling and Camogie Club were set up independently to promote Hurling and Camogie to the local children and adults in the area.

Well done to all involved and hopefully further success in the future.

Tuesday August 29th: A very strong performance was displayed this evening in Teerbeg by our U8 camogie girls who played an equally strong Millstreet team.

Both teams showed great skill and determination throughout the match cheered on by parents, coaches and siblings.

A very special thanks to Donal & Susan Mulcahy of Mulcahy Insurances Ltd Macroom who are proud sponsors of our U8 team and tonight very kindly treated both teams to aftermatch treats and refreshments, “thank you”.

As always thanks to Nora and Michael Mc Carthy Glenview Motors for the continued use of Teerbeg.

Thanks to Michelle and her team for a great match this evening.

Well done to all girls, keep up the training. Friday September 1st: Tonight Laochra Óg U12 hurler’s played St. Patrick’s in the Hurley Cup Final.

Unfortunately we didn’t come out on top, losing 3-3 to 2-1 in a really competitive game.

Laochra Óg had the bulk of the possession but weren’t able to capitalise on it.

Something to work on for the next day. Saying that, there was a massive change in pace and skill shown by both teams since the last time they met. Well done to St. Patrick’s.

We’ll be back next year to take the cup home. Thanks to Astra Systems for their sponsorship and continued support.

A special thanks to St. Colums for the use of their facilities.

Saturday September 2nd: Laochra Óg U14 Camogie team played Inniscarra in a challenge game at Ballyangley yesterday afternoon. Laochra Óg and Inniscarra played great Camogie with the ball travelling end to end.

Both teams were tough out and despite the rain it made no difference to either side. Roisín Lynch, Lucy O’Connor and Emily Murphy were all outstanding playing the ball out of defence. A goal separated the teams at the end going to Inniscarra.

We came close hitting the crossbar and were desperately unlucky not to score more on occasions.

Great preparations for our second round championship game were wait to see who we are playing. Well done girls.
