MULTI-AWARD winning singer/songwriter Colm Fitzpatrick will play a gig at Coughlan’s Live on Friday night.
Fitzpatrick has enriched the music scene with his diverse and eclectic range of genres and styles of music from the sweetest lullabies to dark melodic outpourings.
His blusey vocals and tender style and enshrined by his expressive guitar and ukulele playing, which combine to deliver a sound reminiscent of John Martyn and Nick Drake.
His debut single ‘Simple Loving’ received huge critical acclaim, with his music also having received praise from industry insiders including John Spillane, Paul Lenihan (Frank and Walters) and Dick Dixon of the Warwickshire folk Festival.

FAMILY TRIO GREENSHINE SET TO PLAY THE VILLAGE ARTS CENTRE
POPULAR trio Greenshine will play a gig amid the intimate surroundings of the Village Arts Centre in Kilworth tonight (Thursday).
In recent times Noel Shine and Mary Green, both well know figures within the folk and ballad scene, have been joined by their daughter Ellie bringing a new dimension to their act.
Their music straddles the boundaries of contemporary folk and roots, with many of their self-penned songs having been covered by other artists. The fast picking and close harmonies are a treat to the ear and make for a great night of live entertainment.

STANLEY KUBRICK SEASON TO DRAW TO A CLOSE AT THE TRISKEL
THE Triskel Christchurch Arts Centre will bring is Stanley Kubrick season to a close on Saturday with screenings of the legendary film directors most acclaimed movies.
The 6pm screening will be ‘Full Metal Jacket’, Kubrick’s masterpiece about a group of US Marine’s experiencing boot-camp hell under the punishing command of the foul-mouthed Sgt Hartman before being shipped out to the Vietnam War.
This will be followed at 8.15pm by a screening of ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, starring Tom Cruise as a doctor who plunges into an erotic foray that threatens his marriage - and may ensnare him in a murder mystery – after his wife’s (Nicole Kidman) admission of sexual longings.

GREASY BLUES DOWN THE LANE WITH CROW BLACK CHICKEN
ONE of Ireland’s top live blues bands, Crow Black Chicken, will bring their acclaimed live set to the Crane Lane Theatre for a free late night gig next Thursday ate 11.50pm.
Formed in 2009, the power-trio of Christy O’Hanlon (vocals/ guitar), Stephen McGrath (bass) and Gev Barrett (drums) combine elements of folk and hard rock with Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd inspired blues to produce their unique ‘greasy blues’ rock sound.

RED HURLEY LINED-UP TO PLAY CONCERT AT CLOYNE CATHEDRAL
TICKETS have gone on sale for veteran singer Red Hurley’s eagerly anticipated ‘ How Great Thou Art’ concert amid the atmospheric surroundings of Cloyne Cathedral on Saturday week (September 16).
The concert, an evening of spiritual, gospel and pop music with Hurley and his band, will be a benefit performance with proceeds going the Cloyne Round Tower restoration fund.
With a career spanning five decades, Red Hurley is one of Ireland’s most successful solo male singers and best-loved entertainers.
His Cloyne concert will feature a selection of classic songs including ‘How Great Thou Art’, ‘When’, ‘Love is All’, ‘Sometimes’, ‘I Never Said Goodbye’ and ‘ Keeper of The Stars’.

THE musical Mulcahy family from Abbeyfeale will play a concert at the Ionad Cultútha in Balie Mhuirne on Saturday night.
Mick, Louise and Michelle Mulcahy play a dazzling array of instruments between them but it’s the sweetness and tunefulness of their ensemble playing that is most striking.
Mick Mulcahy is a living legend in Irish accordion playing, with a rare repertoire of old tunes which he plays in a highly distinctive style, a style that has been passed down to his two daughters Louise and Michelle.
Michelle plays harp, concertina, piano and fiddle and Louise plays flutes and uilleann pipes. Together, the Mulcahy’s have an unmistakable, infectious sound with their skill and enthusiasm coming from a lifetime of playing together.
STARGAZING WITH ACCLAIMED CORK TRIO AT THE WHITE HORSE
FOLLOWING on from the launch of their new album ‘My Echo, My Shadow & Me’ Stargazers will play an intimate gig at the White Horse in Ballincollig on Friday night.
One of Cork’s most venerable musical institutions Chris Ahern, Ursula O’Sullivan and Johnny Fang Murphy have been playing and recording together since 1983.
The harmony specialists celebrate the writing genius of Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin and George Gerschwin and the instrumental style of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grapelli.
Friday’s concert will see the trio play new material, including their recent single ‘ The Vatican Rag’, as well as revisit some classics.

ANN KIRRANE AND FRIENDS AT THE FRIAR’S GATE IN KILMALLOCK
THE Friar’s Gate Theatre In Kilmallock will play host to an evening of music and song in the company of Ann Kirrane and friends on Friday night.
The daughter of legendary concertina player, Chris Droney, Kirrane plays the instrument in the same style as her father but these days her voice is her main instrument.
After the hugely successful launch of her second album at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann last year in Ennis, she toured the east coast of America in October and returned to play Texas in March
She will be joined at the Friar’s Gate by guitarist, record producer and Buttons & Bows and Boys of the Lough member and 2008 senior fiddle champion Ronan Greene.

JON KENNY AND MARY MCEVOY RETURN WITH THE SUCCESSFUL TD
THE Hospital Arts & Culture Festival will host a performance of John B Keane’s hilarious political farce ‘ The Successful TD’, starring Jon Kenny and Mary McEvoy next Thursday night
Based on Keane’s ‘ The Letters of a Successful TD’ and’ An Irish Minister for State’ the play follows the trials, tribulations and madcap antics of Till McAdoo as he seeks re-election to the Dail in the ‘October Elections’.
