So who wants to beathousandaire?
MINISTER Michael Creed officially launched the West Muskerry A.C. Fundraiser ‘Who wants to be a Thousandaire’ on Friday night last in St Colman’s Boys National School.
A great night was had by all. All the main sponsors were in attendance on the night including Michael Purcell & Son, Solicitors, Killian Lynch Auctioneers, Deasys Pharmacy, Griffins Garden Centre, Mid Cork Electrical, Niall Murphy Tarmacadam, Firebird, Sean Lehane Pumps and Follain, as were some very special guests including Mayor of Cork County Declan Hurley, West Cork Board and Cork County Board Chairperson Bill Allen, World Champion Race Walker Olive Loughnane, European medallist boxer Christine Desmond, multi All-Ireland medallist in Camogie and Football Briege Corkery, Andrais Moynihan TD, Councillor Ted Lucey, Councillor Michael Creed and Liadh O`Riada MEP.
Paul Mescal from Pallas Marketing entertained all club members and special guests, including Muskerry Special Olympic Club, with a sample of how the fundraiser game works.
Solicitor Jack Purcell was called up as the first contestant and some very hard questions were posed on him.
He even had to ask the audience for help but succeeded in winning €1,000 only to be told it was for fun tonight and he would have to turn up on the night of the show in The Riverside Park Hotel on October 21 and hope to be picked out again.
Athlete Bridgin Kelleher was the next contestant up and again Bridgin also asked help from the audience. She used her 50:50 option and was successful in winning €1,000 but, like Jack, was told she would have to try again and hope to be picked out on the night of the Show.
The night finished off with some light refreshments.
Minister Michael Creed was the first person to purchase a family ticket to the show. Tickets are on sale from any club committee member or by contacting the club phone 087-7874554.
There will be no tickets sold at the door on the night so make sure you purchase your tickets early to avoid disappointment in what is going to be a fantastic night out.
The fundraiser is in aid of West Muskerry AC’s bid to purchase training grounds – a field has been sourced – which will be suitable for the growing club, as well as the Paralympics and Special Needs athletes in the club.
If any business would like to get involved in supporting this worthwhile fundraiser, please do not hesitate to contact any club committee member or contact the club phone on 087-7874554.
