Inform Rockchapel and ‘’Town clash in Intermediate quarter-final

-

TWO inform sides Rockchapel and Mitchelstown collide in the prospect of a lively tussle in the County Intermediate Football Championship quarter-final to the double bill in Buttevant on Saturday. Neither side will lack sharpness for its the third consecutive week the sides are on duty.

Both required replays to make it into this stage where this is a case of the bar going up a notch to determine who advances into the penultimate hurdle. Of course Rockchapel are no strangers to this level, having reached two of the last three finals.

Stung into action by a flat-footed performance in the opening half to a drawn tussle against Aghabullogue two weeks ago, Rockchapel showed considerable improvement in the rematch at a damp Mourneabbey where the goal taking ability of Seamus Hickey, William Murphy and Brendan Cahill swung the issue, four goals out of nine total scores proved invaluable. And Mitchelstown emerged a totally different proposition to sweep past Ballydesmond in their Round 4 Replay.

‘Town were required to shoot the closing four points to force parity first time out but on this occasion, Shane Beston and Seán Walsh swung the midfield battle with Cathal O’Mahony and Dylan Reidy Price netting all important goals.

As the game aged, Mitchelstown drove home their dominance and probably emerged the most impressive of the four sides in the Mourneabbey double bill of replays last Saturday.

However, Rockchapel are an experienced and gritty combination at this stage, their pedigree has carved out wins in the past and it makes for an intriguing clash to see who plays Cill na Martra in a semi-final.
