Snap happy in Fermoy
MEMBERS of Fermoy Camera Club were given free rein to test their imaginations and skills behind the lens during February, resulting in more than 40 entries for their hotly contested monthly competition.
Club PRO Helen Arnold said a judging panel from the Blackwater Photographic Society was handed the task of selecting the winners and providing “invaluable” critique on each of the photographs.
“After much deliberation Ger Dorgan came first with another one of her hallmark quirky photos, followed by David McCarthy’s atmospheric and moody portrait, with Michael Walsh’s stunning wildlife image taking third place. The grade two and three winners were Donagh Cronin and Thomas Walsh respectively,” said Helen.
“Our thanks go to the judges, who also showed us some of their own work and gave an interesting presentation about some of the techniques they use,” she added.
This month’s March competition is open to mono printed images under the theme of Human Portraiture, and further information is available on the club’s website.
In the meantime, the next club meeting will take place next Tuesday evening at 8pm at the Fermoy Community Youth Centre on Ashe Quay, with new members welcome.
Prior to the meeting members will meet in the centre at 7pm for the introduction of their skills-enhancing programme.
“Those intending to come along are reminded to bring their laptops with editing software installed as some basic editing skills will be covered during the initial session,” said Helen.
