VETERAN Irish crooner Johnny McEvoy will bring his latest Irish tour to the stage of the INEC Acoustic Club in Killarney on Saturday night.
Over a career spanning more than five decades Johnny has become one of Ireland’s most enduring and best loved singer/songwriters, enjoying massive success both at home and abroad.

HIGH-OCTANE SOUL AND FUNK AT COUGHLAN’S
RENOWNED for their high-energy live shows, Cork seven-piece Soul driven will play a free latenight gig at Coughlan’s Live on Saturday night.
The band has been kicking down the doors and blowing the ceilings off venues across the country with their brass-infused mixture of soul, funk, jazz and blues.
With a set-list of tracks ranging from the 1950’s to the presents, the band specialise in rip-roaring covers by artists as diverse as Stevie Wonder, AC/DC, Dolly Parton, Perter Gabriel and John Legend.
The sheer musical virtuosity of band members combined with their collective stage presence makes each Soul driven an experience that is guaranteed to set toes tapping and pulses racing.
FOIL, ARMS AND HOG AT THE EVERYMAN PALACE
DUBLIN based comedy trio Foil, Arms and Hog will bring their new show ‘OinK’ to the Everyman Palace Theatre for three shows from Friday night.
Described by The Scotsman as “fantastic and increasingly bizarre”, the threesome is renowned for their extravagant entries and grand finales set on either side of two-hours of mayhem and hilarity.
Their live show is a fast-paced mix of sketch comedy and stand up, with wickedly twisted characters, unpredictable scenes featuring a collection of songs for the elderly, a baggage handlers interpretive dance and a shop that only sells balaclavas
Fans can expect old favourites and raucous debuts as the lads marry the best bits of their back catalogue with new material.

RISING CORK STAR STEPHANIE AT DE BARRA’S
RISING Cork singer/songwriter Stephanie Rainey will play a gig at De Barra’s Folk Club in Clonakilty
Rainey became an internet sensation when he song ‘Please Don’t Go’ had more than a million hits within 24-hours of being uploaded to social media, promoting offers of record contracts from the US and the UK.
Known for her passionate song-writing and heartfelt vocals, Rainey has tasted further success with songs including ‘100 like Me’, in which she opens up about her battle with self consciousness and the uplifting ‘Nothing Of You Led To Love’.
Dubbed ‘one to watch in 2018’, this is an opportunity to see a real star in the making perform in an intimate venue.

WORLD CLASS PIANO AT THE TRISKEL CENTRE
THE Triskel Christchurch Arts Centre will host a concert in the company of the sensational Russian pianist Anna Tsybuleva thus evening.
The winner of the 2015 prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition, Tsybuleva had thrilled and astounded audiences and critics alike with her daring and bravura-filled interpretations of classic works.
She has performed as a soloist with many of Europe’s leading ensembles and given recitals as venues including London’s Wigmore Hall, the Shanghai Opera House, the Salle Cortot in Paris and Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
Her Cork recital will include works by Chopin, Tchaikovsky and a new work by Irish composer Siobhán Cleary.

SULLANE PLAYERS BACK ON THE MACROOM STAGE
THE Macroom-based Sullane Players will return to the stage of the Riverside Park Hotel tonight and tomorrow with their first play of the year.
Once again, comedy will be the order of the day for their latest production, a reworking of Sam Cree’s delightful farce ‘Second Honeymoon’,
Set in a seaside town the play features a host of wonderful characters including the prim and proper landlady Mrs Liggett, her flighty servant girl Vera, long-term resident Mrs Hartnett.
Their well-oiled routine is thrown out of kilter following the arrival of newly-weds Stephen and Sally, Agnes and Frank who are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and social climbers Mr & Mrs Mansfield.

WHITLA ON THE DOUBLE AT THE SIRIUS IN COBH
ACCLAIMED Cork-based double bassist David Whitla will play a lunchtime concert amid the intimate surroundings of Cobh’s Sirius Arts Centre at 3pm on Sunday.
In addition to being an active chamber musician Whitla, who is an instructor at the CIT School of Music and regular with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, has performed with contemporary bands and artists including Karen Underwood, Mandy Murphy and Karan Casey.
Saturday’s concert will feature a programme of inventive and adventurous works by living composers, each lyrically rich and eminently listenable.
It will also include a performance of Bernard Salles ‘Little Suite for F. Posta.”

ROMEO AND JULIET BALLET AT OPERA HOUSE

THE DEAD EDWARDS LIVE AND UNLEASHED
THE Dead Edwards Band will play a free latenight gig at Cork’s Crane Lane Theatre next Tuesday night.
A collective of musicians from various bands including The Vincent(s), The Jollars, The Great Balloon Race and Oiche Samhain, the band has been gigging across Ireland and the continent intermittently for the past decade.
They recently came together again to honour the musicians and bands that have influenced their collectives sounds over the years including Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Joy Division, Bauhaus and Iggy Pop.
The audience can expect nothing less than a high-fueled night of high-octane music, with a few hidden gems somewhere deep in the noise.
CHRIS DIFFORD ON THE STAGE AT BALLYMALOE
SQUEEZE frontman and co-founder Chris Difford will bring his Irish tour to the stage of the Ballymaloe Grainstore in Shanagarry on Saturday night.
Together with band members including Jools Holland and Glen Tilbrook, Difford helped create some of the most instantly recognisable rock/ pop songs of the 1970’s and 80’s including ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Up the Junction’, Labelled With Love’ and ‘ Tempted’.
He has also pursued a successful solo career releasing six albums in addition to managing Bryan Ferry and The Strypes.
Sunday’s gig promises to be a hugely enjoyable mix of classic Squeeze tracks and songs from Difford’s extensive solo back catalogue.
