No stopping Muireann in Munster Scór Sinséar glory
SUCCESS breeds success as provincial honours took a familiar route back to Cork after teriffic success for Carbery Rangers and Kanturk in the GAA promoted Munster Senior Scór Finals hosted in Cappamore.
Live entertainment was in no short supply as Cork’s long standing familiarity played a key part in a number of successes. On doing so, the Rebel county collected a pair of provincial win.
An occasion of great joy for Kanturk’s Muireann Vaughan, emerging best in the Solo Singing with her interpretation of “Fil a Rún Ó” to emerge on top from participants drawn from Crotta O’Neills (Kerry), Borrisoleigh (Tipperary) and Cappagh (Limerick).
No stranger to success, the Kanturk student landed a Munster Scór na nÓg title in 2013 and repeated the feat in senior ranks.
“I’m just thrilled to win, I had enjoyed previous win in Scór na nÓg, this is special to be back on stage in a Munster Final and repeating the win at senior level is special. I picked an Irish language song and it has paid off,” said the delighted Leaving Cert pupil.
Once again, Carbery Rangers kept the West flags floating on a splendid win in the Ballad Group category to regain a title last won in 2016.
Their double fare titled ‘Molly gCuach Ní Chuilleannain’ and ‘Eyes of an Irishman’ from a quintet comprising Seán O’Regan, Clare O’Regan, Sinéad O’Regan, Danny Collins and Ciara O’Gorman. The Rosscarbery club held off the best intentions of J K Brackens (Tipperary) to sample success.
Indeed, there is no stopping Rangers, completing a rare senior and underage double, earlier the Ross Scór na nÓg group landed a Munster title and proceeded to add All Ireland honours.
Elsewhere the St. James Leiriú involving Kathleen O’Sullivan, Rachel Hodnett, Deirdre Hodnett, Jonathan O’Donovan, Finbarr McCarthy, Shane Field and Seán O’Reilly came up short to Feenagh/ Kilmeedy from Limerick. And a great performance from Ballinhassig’s Elaine Lombard received a great reaction only to be bettered by Kieran Moroney from Lissycasey, Clare.
The triumphant winners from Carbery Rangers and Kanturk go forward to represent Cork and Munster in the All Ireland Finals in Sligo on Saturday, April 14.
