‘Train with Alan’ thrills Millstreet camogie players
CORK hurling star Alan Cadogan put young Millstreet camogie players through their paces at a special get together.
The opportunity to ‘ Train with Alan’ surfaced after Millstreet Camogie Club won a competition promoted by Cork City based CAB Motors, inviting clubs to upload a photograph of a team onto the CAB Facebook page.
Millstreeet Camogie U13/14 mentor Deirdre Looney promoted the team and their photograph met with a positive response.
“We reached the county semi final to Féile and there was a chance to get an opportunity to ‘ Train with Alan’. To come on top with a huge 237 likes was terrific”, said Deirdre.
The Cork hurler suffered a knee injury to rule him out of the current Munster championship and subsequent knee surgery means no involvement for the rest of the inter county season while recuperation is underway.
For a special occasion in Millstreet, the weather threatened to be a spoilsport yet all involved made light of the damp conditions to undergo a series of drills.
“A terrific buzz surfaced, nobody cared about the weather, the groups were enthusiastic and really enjoyed the session,” said the Cork star.
CAB representative Jerry Crowley saluted all involved at the Millstreet staging for the ‘ Train with Alan’ get together.
“We’re delighted to give young supporters the chance to meet and learn from a star such as Alan, a player they have seen play with Cork”, he said.
