CYCLING REPORT

MT. HILLARY A.C.

The club are delighted to announce our main race of the year, the ‘Lombardstown 5 Miler’, which is being hosted in partnership with the Lombardstown Community Council on Thursday the 9th August at 8:15pm.

The inaugural race was held last year and despite the freak rain shower that rolled in 5 minutes before the start was a great success and enjoyed by all. Lombardstown itself is an ideal location, central to all athletic clubs in the North Cork region which undoubtedly contributed to the large number of entry’s last year with about 130 runners taking part and we are hoping we can continue to build on last year’s success with your support.

The course is a relatively flat and scenic route, running parallel with the River Blackwater and overlooked by Mt. Hillary. There are no hills of any significance and plenty of opportunity to gain a new 5 mile personal best by taking advantage of the fast starting and finishing stages. Unlike last years race, which was part of a series, we will be offering cash prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st three men and women as well as the first man and woman in the over 45, 55 and 65 categories.

We are also running a 1 Mile Fun Race for the kids of primary school age to make this a fun event for the whole family. For more information please refer to the Mt. Hillary AC Facebook page.
