Cannabis seized in Kanturk search

ON Monday morning, Gardai from Mallow armed with a search warrant seized suspected cannabis herb with an estimated value of just shy of €6,000 from a house in the Kanturk region.

At approximat­ely 8am, Gardai executed the search warrant and during their search discovered five cannabis plants worth an estimated €4,000 and cannabis herb worth €1,900. Both have now been sent for analysis.

No arrests were made and the investigat­ion is “ongoing”, according to gardai.

In a separate incident, gardaí in Cobh arrested two men in their 30s and seized €9000 worth of suspected cannabis plants following a search at a house in Midleton on Saturday, November 3. Both men were detained at Cobh Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and have since been released without charge. A file will in turn be be prepared for the DPP.
