Kanturk host first home games at Ballyhass Lakes

- Kanturk AFC U12 V Mallow Utd at Ballyhass Lakes Kanturk AFC U11 V Buttevant, Saturday November 3rd at Ballyhass Lakes

KANTURK played their first home game at Ballyhass Lakes on Sunday morning.

Jack Finnegan scored early on which settled the game down for Kanturk. Mallow Utd defended a lot after this until Donnacha O’Leary found the net half way through the first half.

Mallow had chances but great defending from Dylan Morley, Marc Watson and Eoin O’Keeffe kept them out. Donnacha O’Leary scored again, making it 3-0 at half time.

Both teams started strong in the second half but great work in mid field from Ronan Kiely and Oisin Twomey kept most of the play in the Mallow Utd half. Jack Finnegan scored 3 fantastic goals in a row to give Kanturk a 6-0 lead.

Mathew O’Gorman added another, making it 7-0. Mallow Utd did get 2 goals against the run of play. However, Jack Finnegan got one last goal for a final score of 8 -2 .

A great performance from all players on the day. Best for Kanturk were Jack Finnegan, Dylan Morley.

Thank you to Ballyhass Lakes for the use of their pitch.

It was honours even when Kanturk made the trip to Greenwood in the league last Saturday.

Both teams came into the game undefeated, Kanturk winning their first 2.

Playing with a strong breeze Kanturk dominated the first half and were unlucky not to be more ahead after Martin O’Riordan scored from a corner midway through the first half.

Greenwood came out and pushed hard for a goal in the second half and were rewarded with the equaliser after an hour.

Both teams came close to getting the winner but all in all a draw was a fair result on a day when Kanturk produced an outstanding performance.

An excellent away point from Kanturk in what was a difficult game.

Best for Kanturk were Damien Finn, Don O’Mahony and Denis Finn.

Thanks to Buttevant for travelling to Ballyhass for a very enjoyable non-competitive game.

Upcoming fixtures: Sunday, November 11, Kanturk AFC U13 V Mallow Utd in Gurteenard at 10am; Kanturk AFC U15 V Ringmahon Rangers A in Gurteenard 11.15am.
