The event was a fund-raiser for Milford GAA who are endeavouring to develop an all-weather training area to enable their teams to train all year round and thus avoid renting other such facilities in the area. As well as being used for the club’s adult and under age teams and camogie teams, the new facility will also be made available to the local national school for PE for the children, who may have access to physical activities in a safe environment.
The building of the new surface will take approximately a month from the commencement date, and work will start as soon as the funds are in place. The cost of the project is €130,000, excluding fencing, and it is expected to be ready for use for the 2019.
The development committee of the Milford club are confident that the project will be a huge boost for the progressive club and it will provide a top class training and sports facility for many years to come, which may be used all year round and will be open to everybody in the community.
