Talk on WW1

CHARLEVILLE Her­itage So­ci­ety’s next talk, on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 22, will be de­liv­ered by mil­i­tary his­to­rian Jerry White on the cen­te­nary of the First World War.

The talk will be at the E Cen­tre, Baker’s Road, Charleville start­ing at 8.15pm.

Over 50 men who en­listed in the Bri­tish Army from Charleville and area were in­volved in the fight­ing and did not re­turn from the the­atres of war in which they were in­volved.

These in­cluded men who fell in bat­tle on the West­ern Front and else­where in Europe, and who now lie un­der a for­eign sky far from their na­tive town. They will be re­mem­bered on this the cen­te­nary of the war which was sup­posed to end all wars but, of course, didn’t.
