Rebels set for clash with Cats in 60x30 de­ciders

SATUR­DAY will be an im­por­tant day for Mal­low Credit Union spon­sored Cork U-12/13 and U-14/15 teams as they travel to Dun­gar­van to face Kilkenny in 60x30 All-Ire­land Team Cham­pi­onship Fi­nals.

In 12/13 Cork will be striv­ing to achieve the dou­ble hav­ing won the 40x20 ti­tle ear­lier in the year, a win on Satur­day would be a huge boost for ju­ve­nile Hand­ball in the county. Cork field a well bal­anced team which in­clude four Fer­moy play­ers - Ben Sul­li­van, Cian Cronin O’Neill, Cameron O’Sul­li­van and Hay­den Sup­ple, two Bo­her­bue play­ers To­mas O’Con­nor and Donal Mur­phy, Cian Dun­ning from Conna, and Mal­low’s Wes­ley De­lany. Kilkenny also have a strong line up and won’t be eas­ily beaten, but Cork play­ers have pre­pared well and are hope­ful of a good per­for­mance on the day.

In 14/15 Fi­nal Cork also face Kilkenny and again a tough bat­tle is ex­pected, Cork have won this ti­tle a few times over the years and will again be hope­ful of do­ing well on this oc­ca­sion. The Cork on duty on Satur­day will have four Bal­ly­desmond play­ers Dar­ragh Mur­phy, Eoghan Daly, John Cronin, Michael Mul­lane,Bo­her­bue player Dan Shea­han, Mal­low player Eric De­lany.

The 40x20 Mun­ster In­ter Club Cham­pi­onship is up and run­ning, on this Thurs­day in Bal­ly­desmond with a 8pm start. Mal­low take on Kerry cham­pi­ons Glen­beigh in the Fi­nal in a game that could go ei­ther way with not much sep­a­rat­ing the sides at the end.

In Ju­nior Club Broad­ford, Lim­er­ick, de­feated Bo­her­bue in one semi-fi­nal. They now meet the win­ner of the sec­ond semi-fi­nal Kil­worth or New­mar­ket-on-Fer­gus in the Fi­nal on Fri­day at 7.30 venue to be de­cided.

In Ju­nior B Club Bo­her­more A, Lim­er­ick de­feated Bal­ly­desmond 77 aces to 76 in a quar­ter-fi­nal, at the other side of the draw in a quar­ter fi­nal Lis­car­roll de­feated Fri­ary Abbey­side, Dun­gar­van 81 aces to 61. The semi-fi­nals were played on Tues­day night in Broad­ford and Gal­bally if Lis­car­roll win their semi-fi­nal they will be in­volved in the Fi­nal on this Fri­day at 7.30pm with venue de­pen­dent on Fi­nal pair­ing.

The Cork Open Ju­ve­nile Sin­gles League from U-12 to U-17 has also com­menced and will con­tinue for the next num­ber of weeks, dur­ing that pe­riod each age group will be nar­rowed down to four,the train­ing and coach­ing of the last four in each age group will con­tinue over the Christ­mas/New Year pe­riod and from the four in each age group Sin­gles and Dou­bles to rep­re­sent Cork in 2019 40x20 Mun­ster Ju­ve­nile Cham­pi­onship.

On Sun­day next in Mal­low at 6pm the 2018 40x20 Se­nior Sin­gles County Fi­nal will be de­cided in which Bren­dan Flem­ing, Bal­ly­desmond, will play Michael Hedi­gan, Lis­car­roll.

The 40x20 County Cham­pi­onship 2019 will com­mence next week and run to early Jan­uary this cham­pi­onship will de­cide Cork rep­re­sen­ta­tives in next year’s pro­vin­cial cham­pi­onship,with a large en­try in all grades there will be a busy sched­ule of games be­tween now and early Jan­uary.
