Mo­men­tous night for Mitchel­stown as GAA ground flood­lights spark into life

MITCHEL­STOWN GAA club turned on their flood­lights at the Lim­er­ick Road Grounds on Satur­day evening.

There was a very large at­ten­dance that in­cluded Kevin O’Ke­effe TD; and Coun­cil­lors Fr O’Flynn, Deirdre O’Brien and Kay Daw­son. The North Cork Board was rep­re­sented by Chair­man Barry Ah­erne. Club Chair­man Michael Price car­ried out the turn­ing on of the lights.

There were a num­ber of foot­ball blitzes for Un­der-6s, -7s, -8s -10s, -12s and Un­der-14s, as well as a Ladies com­pe­ti­tion.

A pre­sen­ta­tion was made to Mark Keane on the oc­ca­sion of his de­par­ture on Mon­day.

He is go­ing to Aus­tralia, where he will be play­ing Aus­tralian Rules foot­ball for the com­ing years.
