EDDIE POWELL R.I.P.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Eddie Powell Ballinamona. Eddie was synonymous with the community centre. He was effectively the caretaker for the centre when it opened in 1979 all the way up to when he retired in 2002. He did all this in his own time and he deserves massive thanks for all the work he put In.

Eddie was also a member of the 1955 Clyda Rovers Hurling team the first to win a championship of any kind for the club. He spent hours and hours coaching our juveniles in the 1970’s. He was chairman of the senior club between 1981 and 1984. He presided over the centenary celebrations on a historic night for the community.

We pass on our deepest sympathies to the Powell family ar dheis de go raibh anam.
