CHARLVILLE HAVE EYES ONLY FOR THE FINAL

CHARLEVILLE had eight points to spare over Midleton in the County Under 21 B FC semi-final at Mallow on Monday night.
From the start the Avondhu side were quick to get on top and their speed and passing caused many problems to the Midleton defence. In the second minute Aaron O’Connor placed James Kennedy for the first score.
Conor Buckley added a point with Darragh Fitzgibbon and Conor Buckley working a good move that saw Fitzgibbon punch over from fourteen yards. Midleton created a few chances, but a solid Rathluirc defence held firm.
Jack Doyle pointed from long range with Jack Callaghan adding two frees before Finbarr Cagney with a point opened up a lead 0-7 to 0-0 by the 19th minute. Midleton had their opening score in the 21st minute when Lyc Gfang worked well for Cathal Gunning who kicked over.
Good play by Tim Hawe and James Kennedy led to a fine Cathal Carroll point. Garran Manley pointed a free for the Imokilly side with Jack Callaghan replying from a free 0-9 to 0-2 at the break.
Scores were scarce in the second half. Midleton improved but they lacked penetration up front. Charleville continued to dominate in the half backline and midfield sectors.
Jack Callaghan and Cormac Beausang frees exchanged a point. Midleton had a goal by Sean O’Leary-Hayes in the 46th minute. Good play by Tim Hawe and Darragh Fitzgibbon led to a Conor Buckley point.
Garran Manley pointed in the 50th minute as the lead was down to four points 0-11 to 1-4. Charleville forced a penalty with Jack Callaghan converting. The same player completed the scoring with a late pointed free.
