Cup action for Blackwater Valley Darts
THE First Round Second Leg of the Blackwater Valley Darts Cup took place on Friday, November 9.
Kit Roches were at home to Horgans. The visitors got off to a winning start when Adrian Holmes beat Chris O’Toole 3-0. Tim Deady evened it up with a 3-0 victory over Mick Dunne. Aaron Ryan put Kits in front when he defeated Rob Harrington 3-1. Pa Holmes levelled it when over coming Raymond Harrington 3-0.
Chris Holmes beat Ger McCarthy 3-0 and Daithi Linehan beat Kevin Linehan 3-1 to put Horgans in front 4-2 after the singles.
In the doubles Aaron Ryan and Kevin Linehan beat Adrian Holmes and Patrick Holmes 3-1 to get within one game of Horgans. But Chris Holmes and Robert Harrington overcame Tim Deady and Raymond Harrington 3-1 to secure the win for Horgans.
On the night, Kit Roches 3 – Horgans 5. Horgans win 9-7 on aggregate.
Dalys went to Corkerys for their second leg match with an advantage of 7-1. Corkerys were not going to go down without a fight, winning the first four singles.
Dave O’Leary beat Gary Jones 3-0, Will O’Shea beat Tommy Kavanagh 3-0, Peter Heslin beat Gerry Black 3-2 and Stephen Connolly beat Johnny Holland 3-2.
Daly’s ship was beginning to creak. The in form Brendan Mathews pulled one back when defeating Timmy O’Sullivan 3-2 and Tony Hartnett steadied the ship with a 3-0 victory over Pa Lucey.
Corkerys leading 4-2 after the singles.
In the doubles Sean McGann and Gerry Black beat Stephen Connolly and Will O’Shea 3-2. Timmy O’Sullivan and Dave O’Leary beat John Sheehan and James Lowe 3-0 with Corkerys winning 5-3 on the night while Dalys win 10-6 on aggregate.
The Mouse Trap travelled to the Bridge House with a mountain to climb, trailing 6-2 from the first leg. The Mouse Trap started well with Johnny Griffin beating Christopher Barry 3-1. Eddie O’Rourke pulled one back with a win over Mick O’Rourke 3-0. Alan O’Flynn beat Alan Donoghue 3-1 to put Bridge House in front.
Harry Cosgrave levelled it with 3-1 victory over Damian Carey. Colm Cahill beat John Harkin 3-0 and Nicky Sherman beat Owen Doyle 3-0 to secure the win for Bridge House 4-2.
Bridge House win 10-4 on aggregate.
Maureens went out to face Kilbrin Social Club trailing 6-2. Kilbrin drew first blood winning the first two singles with Michael O’Connor defeating Peter O’Donovan 3-2 and Alan Mullane beating Klaus Ricther 3-2.
Maureen’s James Angland beat Alan Ballantyne 3-2 to pull one back. Kilbrin upped a gear and won the next three singles. Alex Mc Carthy beat Danny Butler 3-0, Pat Healy beat Andrew Clarke 3-1 and Mick Kennedy beat Dave O’Brien 3-2. Kilbrin leading 5-1.
Maureens came out top in both doubles, James Angland and Andrew Clarke beat William Heffernan and Mick Kennedy 3-2. Sean Dilworth and Klaus Ricther beat Paddy Mc Mahon and Tomais Mullane 3-0.
Kilbrin won 5-3 on the night and 11-5 on aggregate.
The league commences on Friday, November 16.
