‘Deep mystery’ over 40m of unfixed footpath
A county councillor is “confused over the deep mystery” as to why 40m of footpath in Tower cannot be completed for just shy of four years.
At the Blarney Macroom municipal district meeting, Cllr Bob Ryan (FF) said the stretch of footpath in Tower was only 30-40 metres. While he acknowledged there was now no budget to finish work, he said he failed to see why this “small section” which only requires a black top cannot be done. “I have been assured by engineers that it will be done, but we are now shoving on into Christmas and it is not still done and I want an explanation,” he said.
Cllr Kevin Conway (Ind) said the footpath was being left “go by the wayside.”
Senior Engineer James Dwyer said he was not familiar with the stretch of footpath but told him he would look into the matter for the next council meeting.
Cllr Ryan, who is very vocal against the transferrence of Blarney to go under the remit of Cork City Council, said he was “confused over the deep mystery” as to why works isn’t getting done. “Really, my suspicions now are in the city,” he said.
