Kanturk water supply secured

-

WORKS to install new water mains in Kanturk which commenced in August are now complete.

Irish Water, in partnership with Cork County Council, has installed 2.6 kilometers of water mains on the Greenfield Road to provide a more secure, reliable water supply to the community of Kanturk. The problematic, older water mains have been replaced with modern, polyethylene (plastic) pipes.

This work was carried out as part of Irish Water’s Leakage Reduction Programme, which will see €500m invested nationally over the next four years to tackle problematic pipes and leakage in Ireland’s ageing water network.

“The installation of this water main is essential in providing a safe, secure and reliable water supply for this area of Kanturk now and into the future.” said Steven Blennerhassett, who is the Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead with Irish Water.

“We would like to thank the community for their support during the works.”
