Muskerry Macra clubs spreading festive cheer

-

MACRA na Feirme is an active group of young(ish) people who are always willing to do a good turn locally, and the season of goodwill is no exception.

Members of Macra clubs across Muskerry will be raising funds for good causes, helping at seasonal events and, of course, socialising a fair bit, too, over the next few weeks. Here’s a smattering of what’s planned in Muskerry:

Donoughmore Macra will be holding its annual Christmas coffee morning this Sunday, December 9, at 12pm in Donoughmore Community Centre.

All funds raised are in aid of the CUH children’s ward. People dropping in to support this fund-raiser can expect a few surprises on the day.

In the lead-up to Christmas, members will also be collecting Christmas shoe-boxes in aid of Cork Penny Dinners.

Aghinagh Macra will hold its Christmas party on December 22. However, the location is being kept top secret for the moment – just pencil in the date.

Berrings Macra is doing a recruitment drive in January and is actively looking for new members. It is organising a social night out in Killarney on January 12.

Ovens Macra will be holding a pool tournament on December 21 in Ovens Bridge Bar. It kicks off at 7pm and is followed by a night out.

Keep a look out on its Facebook page for more details of this event.

Members from all Muskerry clubs (Aghinagh, Berrings, Crookstown, Donoughmore, Ovens and Terelton) will be attending officer training on Saturday, January 12, in Killarney, and a social night will take place in Killarney town that evening. This is open to all members.

Anyone interested in joining a Muskerry Macra should club contact ‘Muskerry Mac’ Facebook page.
