BOHERBUE’SCHRISTMASMARKET
THERE was an abundance of festive cheer and a lovely warm atmosphere at the Boherbue Christmas Market last Sunday and the popularity of this eagerly awaited annual event was borne out by the huge attendance throughout the day.
And there was an extra special welcome for Santa on what was his first ever visit to the market.
Santa’s Grotto was sponsored by the local SuperValu and Manager Michael Foley and staff were on hand to help the man in red give out all the presents to the boys and girls who waited in line to meet him and tell him what they wanted him to bring them on Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile, the Market was in full swing with stall holders displaying a diverse selection of merchandise from home baking, award winning jams and chutney, seasonal hot cider and brandy, festive decorations, jewellery, clothing, handbags, skincare products and garden ornaments to name but a few. Young entrepreneurs who formed the TY Mini Companies at Boherbue Comprehensive School were showcasing their innovative skills with their transition year business projects
The local Girl Guides provided refreshments, giving shoppers time to rest for a while to replenish their energies for more retail therapy!
Proceeds from the monster raffle will benefit the girl guides who are fundraising for a trip to Switzerland in the spring.
“We hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas market as much as we enjoyed organising it and we thank all who supported it, we can’t wait for next year!” committee member Sandra Cashman said.
