THE Blar­ney/Macroom Mu­nic­i­pal Dis­trict hosted a Civic Re­cep­tion in the Cas­tle Ho­tel Macroom to hon­our the sport­ing achieve­ments of ju­ve­niles in our mu­nic­i­pal dis­trict.

Due to the high num­ber of re­cip­i­ents this re­cep­tion was held on two nights and awards were made each night.

On Mon­day 26th Novem­ber 2018, Cathaoir­leach of Blar­ney/Macroom MD, Cllr Ted Lucey pre­sented cer­tifi­cates of achieve­ment to the fol­low­ing groups on their success:

1. Macroom Soc­cer Club a. U12 Soc­cer League & Cup Cham­pi­ons (girls) b. U12 Divi­sion 6 Win­ners (boys)

2. Macroom Ladies Foot­ball Club a. U12 Mid Cork Cham­pi­ons b. U14 Mid Cork Cham­pi­ons c. U16 Mid Cork & County Cham­pi­ons

3. Laochra Óg a. U14B2 West Re­gion Cham­pi­onship & League b. U16B2 West Re­gion Hurl­ing Cham­pi­ons

On Wed­nes­day 28th Novem­ber 2018, Cathaoir­leach Cllr Ted Lucey pre­sented a cer­tifi­cate of achieve­ment to Ser­ena Pearse and her coach, Tony Pearse, on her huge suc­cesses in power lift­ing, which in­clude holder of 16 Ir­ish Ti­tles, 12 Euro­pean Ti­tles and 10 World Ti­tles. She is ranked No 1 in her cat­e­gory.

Also, on the night Cllr Lucey pre­sented certs to mem­bers of West Muskerry Ath­letic Club on their achieve­ments as fol­lows:

Stephanie Cot­ter – Gold Medal Win­ner in Ju­nior All Ire­land 1500m Track & Field 2018

Stephen Bradley - Broke 2 Ir­ish Records in IWAS World Ju­nior Games in 2018. Gold Medal Win­ner in County & Mun­ster Track & Field 2018

Jamie Houri­han - Bronze Medal Win­ner in the All Ire­land Cross Coun­try Cham­pi­onships with the Cork Team

Cathal Ryan - Gold Medal Win­ner in 100m, Silver Medal in Javelin & Silver Medal in 400m at IWAS World Ju­nior Games in 2018

Cllr Michael Creed pre­sented two road bowlers with cer­tifi­cates of achieve­ment on their success as fol­lows:

• Colm McLough­lin - U18 All Ire­land Road Bowl­ing

• Cathal Cree­don - U12 Mun­ster & U12 All Ire­land Road Bowl­ing

Cllr Gob­nait Moyni­han pre­sented cer­tifi­cates of achieve­ment to dancers from Scoil Rince Ui Thuama and their coach Lor­raine Ni Thuama on their re­cent success. Pre­sen­ta­tions were made to the fol­low­ing:

• U15P2 Foot­ball League Cham­pi­ons

• U15P2A Hurl­ing League Cham­pi­ons

• U16A Hurl­ing County Cham­pi­ons

• East U16A Hurl­ing Cham­pi­ons

Both nights were a huge success with cer­tifi­cates pre­sented to over 200 re­cip­i­ents from the Blar­ney/Macroom Mu­nic­i­pal Dis­trict.

The Mem­bers and Staff of Blar­ney/Macroom MD would like to con­grat­u­late all those who re­ceived their awards and wish them con­tin­ued success in their fu­ture en­deav­ours.
