Where artisan food is a matter of pride

-

O’Learys of Millstreet is an Artisan Butchers which is run by brothers James and Jerry O’Leary.

They are well known throughout the country for their award winning achievements over the last number of years, including twice Gold Medal winners at the Blas Na hEireann awards (2014 for Easy Carve Gourmet Chicken and 2016 for Mushera Venison Burgers); All Ireland Champions for their home made traditional sausages; their multi award winning spiced beef and last year voted ‘Best in Ireland’ for their Healthy Turkey Burgers. Blas Na hEireann has become known as the Oscars of the Irish food and drinks industry and is run in conjunction with the Dingle Food Festival, with thousands of entrants competing every year. The judges look for products that are made using top quality Irish ingredients, by passionate and talented producers.

This year, O’Learys were shortlisted for the final with two of their innovative products, Beef and Mozzarella sliders and their Buffalo Burgers (Buffalo meat supplied by Johnny Lynch of Macroom Buffalo Mozzarella).

They were competing against some of the top producers and multiples in the country. Despite this high level of competition O’Learys successfully brought home the top Gold Awards for both products. Jerry acknowledges that all of this success is due to hard work, dedication and creativity of all of the staff at O’Learys.

The team continue to pride themselves on a history of crafting handmade artisan produce with a unique culinary flair.
