CHRISTMAS

On this Saturday night, December 8, at 8.15 p.m. the Christmas Crib at the Square will be blessed by Fr Jim Kennelly followed by the turning on of the lights on the big tree also in the Square.

This ceremony will be performed by recently retired National School principal Mr Gerard Lenihan. Committee chairman Donal Aherne will preside with some Christmas carols and music by the National School children and the local church choir.

This year the organisers Boherbue Festival Committee have added another four lights on the Main Street which will add enormously to the decor. The tree once again has been provided and put in place by Ballydesmond’s Seán Kelly and staff to whom the committee are extremely grateful.

Likewise, to Martin Leader, who provided the ‘cherrypicker’ to help attach the lights along with Jim O’Hanlon and his forklift. There is great credit due to this small committee who each year give Boherbue that festive look at Christmas.

Likewise, to the householders for their co-operation and to Margaret Murphy, who supplies the current for the big tree and to Margaret Fitzgerald for the light in the crib.

After Saturdays ceremony everyone is invited to the hall for a chat, taste some Christmas cheer and light refreshments.
