HEARTBREAK FOR JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS
A trojan effort but our footballers bowed our after extra time in Mallow last Sunday. An early Beaufort goal was replied to with a Daniel O Keeffe point. Beaufort added again from play with replies from O Keeffe. Seamus O Sullvan moved to full forward and rewarded the move with an equalising Dromtarriffe goal. Points were added by Shane Collins and O’Keeffe before O Sullivan added his second goal and left Dromtarriffe 2.6 to 1.3 up at half time.
Despite an opener for Dromtarriffe Beaufort got 1.4 without reply and maybe only for some fantastic defensive play especially from Sean Howard, Jack Murphy, Conor O Callaghan and Tomas Howard their chances may have done more damage. O Callaghan was also instrumental driving forward as was Denis O Donoghue and Evan Murphy. Points to O Keeffe, O Callaghan & O Donoghue in the second half which found the full time whistle 2.11 a piece and extra time.
With tired legs and aching bodies our players fought and harrassed throughout the extra time periods however only 2 points were registered by O Keeffe & O Callaghan many going just wide of the target, and then the final whistle blew as the minimum separated the teams. Our gratitude to our players and management teams for a memorable 2018.
