It’s a win-win-win for Patrician Academy

-

LAST Monday week saw the U/16 A Patrician Academy basketball team take on Colaiste Choilm for the second time in the season, this time in the semi-finals.

A previous meeting saw the Academy come out on top but nothing was being taken for granted as these were a good team. The Academy had the advantage of having a home draw and were up for the challenge. There was a great game of basketball on display with plenty of encouragement for the Academy supporters.

It was clear from the outset that the Academy had the upper hand and went on to win the game comfortably in the end. The finals in Neptune stadium were the final hurdle to be overcome.

The Academy players set out for Neptune Stadium last Monday with the hopes of coming home winners of the U/16A league. Blarney were the opposition in this case and were a quality side that had emerged out of the other pool. Nothing was going to be easy in this game.

An added complication was the coach of the Blarney team, John O’Sullivan, is also coach to many of the team in Mallow Basketball Club. To say he had inside knowledge was an understatement.

To say the boys left it all on the court is an understatement. They played their hearts out and were deserving winners of the title. The final score was Patrician Academy 54 Blarney 31.
