THANK YOU

On behalf of the Killavullen Christmas Commiteeand the Community Council incredible praise must go to all those who organised an incredible start to the season of Advent and Christmas. On Saturday evening December 1st St Nicholas’ Church was overflowing with families, friends and neighbours to mark the start of Advent. A choir made up of school children under the direction of Fiona Hannon and accompanied by the Adult Choir enhanced the Mass.

Children took part in the church ceremony which was celebrated by Fr Condon. After Mass the Christmas Lights were lit to much delight, and the adult choir burst into song as the Church Tree was lit. After Mass, the congregation were treated to a cuppa and festive nibbles in the Community Centre. The children were busy doing arts and crafts, while the adults enjoyed the start of the festive season by simply having time for a chat with those around them. Each family who came to the hall were given a free commemerative Killavullen Christmas decoration and a ticket for a free raffle.

The raffle winners were Sheila McCarthy, Mary Linehan and Monica O’Donovan. There was a guess the amount of the Chocolate Chrismtas Coins in the jar competition which was a very competitive affair on the night. The total of all the coins and notes was €1030 and the winner was Ciara O’Grady who guessed €1002.

Thanks and appreciation goes to all who helped in each and every way to make this a wonderful event : Fr. Condon for celebrating the Advent Mass, Fiona Hannon for directing the choir, to the adult choir for accompanying the children,to the children who participated in the Mass, and to the children who formed the choir, to all the staff of both schools in the Parish who were supportive in promoting the event and giving time to rehearsals, to those who braved the elements and heights to put up the lights and the frames, to those who donated refreshements and to those who helped on the night.

Huge thanks goes to the kindness of those in Killavullen who allow us to use their premises as a source of power for our lights, without your kind, festive spirit this event would be a non-runner. Thank you too to all who attended on the night and spoke highly of the event, it is lovely to hear the positive feedback. Ni Neart Go Cur Le Cheile!
