Kan­turk se­cure bril­liant win in U17 Su­per Cup

KAN­TURK AFC U17’s played Col­lege Corinthi­ans A on Sun­day 6th Jan­uary in The Su­per Cup.

The game was played in great con­di­tions at Corinthi­ans Park. The home side got off to a good start with a well taken goal. Corinthi­ans dou­bled their ad­van­tage af­ter a mix up in the Kan­turk de­fence.

Kan­turk failed to deal with a high ball, mak­ing it 3-0 down af­ter 30 mins and were dealt a fur­ther blow when a Kan­turk player was shown a straight red.

Kan­turk got back into it af­ter 40 mins when Mikey fired home from an in­di­rect free kick. Just be­fore half time, fol­low­ing good work from David Kil­martin down the right, Cathal Brod­er­ick fin­ished well to make it 3-2 at half time.

Kan­turk con­tin­ued to play great soc­cer, lev­el­ing it up with a great goal from Cathal Brod­er­ick af­ter bril­liant build-up play down the right.

Into ex­tra time Kan­turk se­cured a fa­mous vic­tory win with Niall Breen vol­ley­ing from the edge of the box.

A bril­liant over­all team per­for­mance by Kan­turk. Best for Kan­turk on the day: Erin McAuliffe, Calvin Conroy, Cathal Brod­er­ick.

Kan­turk AFC Un­der 12 Vs Ban­don, away on Satur­day, Jan­uary 5

Kan­turk played away to league lead­ers Ban­don on Satur­day last.

Both sides started strongly with Kan­turk hav­ing the edge early on but didn’t take ad­van­tage of it. Ban­don had chances with great goal keep­ing from Danny Cronin and great de­fenc­ing from the back three, Marc Wat­son, Dy­lan Mor­ley and Eoin O’Ke­effe kept them out. Nil all half time.

The se­cond half started the same with very lit­tle be­tween both sides, both teams had chances with both hit­ting the posts. Ban­don how­ever scored half way through the se­cond half. Kan­turk were un­lucky not to equal­ize min­utes later.

Kan­turk bat­tled to the end and were un­lucky not to draw. Fi­nal score: Kan­turk 0 Ban­don 1. Best for Kan­turk were Dy­lan Mor­ley and Danny Cronin.

Kan­turk 2-0 Tower FC, at Gur­teenard Satur­day, Jan 5

Kan­turk con­tin­ued un­beaten in the league with an im­pres­sive but hard fought win over a phys­i­cal and or­gan­ised Tower side.

Nil all at half time, but it could have been 2 or 3 but for the hero­ics of the tower goal­keeper.

In the se­cond half Kan­turk were re­warded with the goal they de­served with 15 min­utes to go when Ross O’Con­nor played in Don O’Ma­hony to cooly slot the ball past the Tower keeper.

Kan­turk con­tin­ued to push on and in the fi­nal minute got the de­served se­cond when Nathan Healy hit a great strike from a di­rect free giv­ing the keeper no chance.

Best for Kan­turk on the day were Damien Finn, Martin O’Rior­dan and Nathan Healy.
