LISMIRE LAUDS FOOTBALL HEROES
LISMIRE GAA’s victory function attracted a large turnout at Kilbrin Social Centre to mark a rewarding past season on the playing fields.
Memories flooded back from a productive campaign, when Lismire produced a top drawer performance to better Tullylease in the Duhallow Junior C Football Championship Final. From a side captained by Padraig Denn, Lismire always looked the more likely victors from pillar to post despite a few rallies from a battling Tullylease.
All told, a highly efficient Lismire performance, operating a fast and fluent brand of football, good fielding and swift passing was rewarded on exceptional scores much to the delight of their supporters.
The dedication of players earned plaudits as did the guidance of team manager James O’Neill and his fellow management of Tim Ahern and Paddy Sheahan.
Club Chairman Tony McAulliffe expressed delight on the large attendance for the gala evening, thanking members and supporters for their backing.
“The occasion recognised the achievement of our Junior C football team on their success at divisional level. Given our facilities at our complex, it’s important to claim success from time to time, and everybody was delighted to enjoy a divisional triumph”, he said.
Another busy weekend lies in store for Lismire GAA on staging its highly popular annual variety concert featuring the Kanturk Gospel Choir and local talent on this Friday and Saturday commencing at 8pm nightly.
